Framing Tip #2: Adhesives for Matting Art

For all of the do-it-yourselfer; When you are preparing to frame a piece of art, if you are matting it be sure to choose an acid-free mat. Additionally, don’t use regular scotch tape or regular masking tape to secure the drawing, as they are not acid-free and will yellow a the artwork over time. Apply acid-free photo or document tape to these items instead. If you are a DYI’er, acid-free photo and document tape can often be found with the scrapbook supplies in local art or craft stores. Using archival quality products will ensure you and your family can enjoy the pieces for years to come.
