Have you ever wondered how artists arrive at their prices? Have you looked at someone’s online art gallery and wondered why one piece of theirs costs more than the next piece even though they are the same size and the same medium? Does their pricing seem sort of arbitrary? Understanding how some artists arrive at their prices can be incredibly difficult. However, it doesn’t have to be that way.

I decided to create a page to explain how I price my unique two-dimensional drawings and paintings. I wanted all of my art to have clear, consistent pricing, I use sized-based pricing for my one-of-a-kind works.

Everything on my website is based on a simple formula; (Height + Width) x Index number = Price

To get the linear inch of a piece, you simply add the height + width of it. For example, an 8 by 10-inch piece would be 8 + 10 = 18 linear inches.

The get the price of an 18 linear inch piece I take 18 x $20 = $360.

Since at times I offer art in different sizes, I created a quick reference guide for your convenience. Here it is:

4+4 inches = 8 linear inches x 20 = $160

8+8 inches = 16 linear inches x 20 = $320

8+10 inches = 18 linear inches x 20 = $360

8.5 by 11 = 19.5 linear inches x 20 = $390

8+12 inches = 20 linear inches x 20= $400

9+11 inches = 20 linear inches x 20= $400

9+12 inches = 21 linear inches x 20 = $420

Unless noted otherwise all drawings and pastel paintings come without mats and are unframed. Any exceptions have been noted and prices have been adjusted to reflect that.

Note: There is also an additional Michigan sales tax of 6% due at each sale.

Everything I sell is a one-of-a-kind original art. That means there is a limited supply. My prices reflect that. Lastly, remember that my art has value beyond its decorative function. When you own my art, you will always have a unique conversation starter when guests come over because my personal story is so compelling. How many people can say that they have met an artist who has lived with vision loss childhood?  How many people can say that they have met an artist who has lived with chronic migraines since the turn of the century? How many people can say that they have met an artist who spontaneously draws abstract figures upside down while fighting off a migraine? How many people know an artist who creates highly detailed, dramatic drawings from doodles while recovering from a migraine? My art stands out because of how I make it. It perfectly imperfect. It conveys emotion. It shows I am deeply human. It conveys that I have struggles like everyone else. Yet all my trials and tribulations haven’t crushed my voice. They haven’t snuffed out my creativity. Instead, God has used those trials to refine me. Circumstances have purified me, refined me like one refines silver. They have tested me like one tests gold. Circumstances have refined my artistic style while God has shown me gifts within myself that I did not know existed in the first place. It has been a glorious adventure!
